Combining good dispersion with tailored charge trapping in nanodielectrics by hybrid functionalization of silica

Abstract Fumed silica-filled polypropylene (PP)-based nanodielectrics were studied in this work. To not only improve the dispersion of silica but also introduce deep charge traps into polymeric matrix, five types modified silicas manufactured with different surface modifications. The surfaces comprise an inner and a layer. layer contains polar urethane group for tailoring trap properties PP/propylene–ethylene copolymer nanocomposites, whereas consists hydrocarbons (ethyl-, tert -butyl-, cyclopentyl-, phenyl-, or naphthalenyl moieties) order to gain good unpolar polymer blend. Scanning electron microscopic pictures proved that these tailored show much better than unmodified one. Thermally stimulated depolarization current measurements revealed ability low density. depth distribution depends on type consisting hydrocarbons. Among differently silicas, introduction one -butyl moieties resulted lowest injection nanocomposite, proving dielectric performance. Additionally, exhibits indicating promising performance nanodielectric application.

We show analytically that tailoring the fiber dispersion appropriately can cause optical solitons to propagate unperturbed, without emission of dispersive waves, in a distributed-gain fiber amplifier with a nonuniform gain profile. We apply our scheme to a bidirectionally pumped fiber amplifier and discuss the importance of higher-order nonlinear and dispersive effects for short solitons.
